Welcome to Explore Jordan Business ("we," "our," or "us"). This application is designed for verified accommodation providers, tour guides, and other tourism businesses operating in Jordan that are listed on Explore Jordan. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share, and safeguard information when you use the Explore Jordan Business mobile application (the "Business App").
By using the Business App, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Business App.
1. Who This App Is For
The Business App is intended for adults aged 18 and over who are authorized representatives of a business listed on Explore Jordan. By creating an account, you confirm that you are at least 18 years old and authorized to act on behalf of the business you represent.
2. Information We Collect
2.1 Business Owner Account Information
When you register, we collect:
- Full name of the business owner or authorized representative
- Email address — for account login, password recovery, and important communications
- Phone number — for verification and contact
- Password — stored only as a salted hash (never in plain text)
- Role and position within the business
- Business identity verification documents (if requested as part of onboarding)
2.2 Business Listing Data
You enter and maintain information about your business, including:
- Business name, category, and description
- Business address and location coordinates
- Contact details (phone, email, website)
- Operating hours and availability
- Photos of your property or services
- Pricing or rate information (where applicable)
- Amenities, features, and other descriptive metadata
This information is publicly visible to tourists using the Explore Jordan user app. You are responsible for ensuring it is accurate, lawful, and not infringing on any third-party rights.
2.3 Staff Member Information
If you add staff members to your business account, we collect:
- Staff member name
- Email address
- Role / position
- Profile photo (optional)
- Login credentials (managed by the staff member themselves)
As the primary business account holder, you are responsible for ensuring that staff members you add have given their consent for their data to be processed by Explore Jordan.
2.4 Customer Communication Data
When customers chat with your business or post comments / reviews about your listing, we store:
- Chat messages between your business and customers (text, images, files)
- Customer reviews and comments posted on your listing
- Replies you post to customer comments and messages
- Read receipts and message delivery status
You can view customer messages and reviews through the Business App. You can mute, delete, or report individual conversations or comments.
2.5 Business Performance Statistics
We collect aggregated, anonymized analytics about your listing:
- Number of profile views
- Number of "Want to Go" and "Been There" markings
- Comment and review counts and ratings
- Chat conversation counts
- Follower counts
These statistics help you understand customer engagement with your listing.
2.6 Device and Usage Information
We automatically collect:
- Device type, operating system version
- App version and crash diagnostics
- Unique device identifier
- Date and time of access
- Approximate IP-based region (for security)
2.7 Push Notification Token
If you enable notifications, we receive a Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) device token from your device. We use this only to send you notifications you have opted into (new customer messages, new reviews, business updates).
3. How We Use Your Information
We use your information to:
- Create and manage your business account and authenticate logins
- Display your business listing publicly in the Explore Jordan user app
- Enable communication between your business and customers via chat and reviews
- Provide business analytics (visit counts, engagement metrics) to help you understand your audience
- Manage staff access to your business account
- Moderate user-generated content posted about your business (comments and reviews) before publication
- Investigate and respond to reports filed by you or against your business
- Send push notifications for new customer messages, comments, reviews, and important updates
- Operate and improve the Business App and fix issues
- Detect and prevent fraud, spam, security issues, and policy violations
- Respond to legal requests when required by law
4. How We Share Your Information
We do not sell or rent your personal information to third parties.
4.1 Public Visibility
Your business listing information is publicly visible to all users of the Explore Jordan user app. This includes:
- Business name, description, category
- Address and location on map
- Business contact details that you choose to publish
- Photos of your property
- Approved customer reviews and your replies
- Operating hours and availability
Personal account details of the business owner (your private email, phone, password) are never made public.
4.2 Customers
When a customer initiates a chat with your business or posts a comment:
- You receive their display name, profile photo, and the content of their message
- The customer can see your business name, your replies, and any staff member photos you have published
- Customers cannot see your private contact details unless you choose to share them through chat
4.3 Service Providers
We share limited information with trusted service providers who help us operate the App:
- Hostinger — backend hosting and database
- Mapbox — interactive maps for displaying business locations
- Google Firebase Cloud Messaging — push notification delivery
These providers are bound by contractual and legal data protection obligations.
4.4 Legal Requirements
We may disclose your information if required by law, court order, regulatory authority, or to protect the safety of our users, our staff, or the public.
4.5 Business Transfers
If Explore Jordan is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred to the new owner. We will notify you of any such change.
5. Customer Content Moderation
To maintain a safe and trustworthy platform:
- All comments and reviews posted by customers on your listing are reviewed by our admin team before becoming visible.
- You can report abusive, false, or inappropriate customer reviews and we will investigate.
- You can report and block customers who engage in abuse, harassment, or spam against your business.
- You cannot edit or delete a customer's original review, but you can reply to it publicly and you can flag it for our review.
- We may remove content or suspend customer accounts that violate our Terms of Service.
6. Data Security
We implement industry-standard security measures:
- All data transmission uses HTTPS (TLS/SSL) encryption
- Passwords are stored as salted hashes — never in plain text
- Sensitive data on your device is stored in encrypted secure storage
- API requests are signed and authenticated to prevent tampering
- Server access is restricted to authorized personnel
- Regular security reviews and patching
- Multi-factor authentication available for business accounts (where supported)
No system is 100% secure. While we take reasonable steps to protect your data, we cannot guarantee absolute security.
7. Data Retention
- Business account and listing data — retained while your account is active
- Customer reviews and your replies — retained for as long as the listing is active, plus 1 year after listing closure
- Chat conversations — retained for as long as the conversation exists, up to 24 months after either party's account is deleted
- Business analytics — retained in aggregated form for up to 36 months
- Moderation and report records — retained for up to 3 years for safety and legal compliance
- Tax and financial records (if applicable in future) — retained as required by Jordanian tax law
8. Account Deletion
You can delete your business account at any time:
- In the App: Go to Account → Delete Account → confirm with password
- By email: Send a deletion request to info@explorejordan.org from your registered email
When you delete your business account:
- Your business listing is removed from the user app within 24 hours
- Your staff member accounts are also deactivated
- Existing customer reviews may remain visible in anonymized form (your business name retained, your private replies anonymized)
- Chat conversations are anonymized on your side
- Within 30 days, your business account is permanently deleted from our active systems
- Records required for legal, security, or fraud-prevention purposes may be retained in restricted form
Note: If you have outstanding subscription, payment, or contractual obligations with Explore Jordan, deletion may be subject to settlement of those obligations.
9. Your Rights and Choices
You have the following rights regarding your personal information:
- Access — request a copy of the personal information we hold about you
- Correction — update or correct inaccurate information through the App
- Deletion — request deletion of your business account (see Section 8)
- Restriction — request limitation of certain processing
- Portability — request your data in a portable format
- Objection — object to certain processing
- Withdraw consent — withdraw consent for optional features
- Lodge a complaint — with your local data protection authority

10. Third-Party Services
The Business App integrates with the following third-party services, each with its own privacy policy:
We are not responsible for the privacy practices of these third-party services.
11. Children's Privacy
The Business App is intended exclusively for adults aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect information from minors through the Business App. If you become aware of a minor having access to a business account, please contact us immediately.
12. International Data Transfers
Explore Jordan is operated from the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. Our backend data is hosted in Hostinger data centers, which may be located outside Jordan. By using the Business App, you consent to the transfer and processing of your data in Jordan and other countries where our service providers operate.
13. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do:
- We will post the updated Privacy Policy in the App and on our website
- We will update the "Last Updated" date at the top
- For material changes, we will notify you through the App or via email
Your continued use of the Business App after changes become effective constitutes your acceptance of the revised Privacy Policy.
